1890. Miss Stewart. Likely located at 50 Norwood Avenue, Avon-by-the-Sea, NJ. Extant.

“Minerva Parker has made plans for a fine frame cottage at Avon-by-the-sea, for Miss Stewart, to be two-stories high, shingle roof, wood mantels, stained and plate glass, with all modern conveniences.” (1890) Sarah Stewart was a nationally-known educator, active in the movement to promote kindergartens in the United States. This house was likely a cottage built for her retirement at the corner of Norwood and First Avenues, although it is unclear which extant house was hers.
