1890. Rachel Foster Avery. 13475 Proctor Road, Philadelphia, PA

“Minerva Parker has on boards plans for a large stone house, for Mrs. Rachel Foster Avery,...a conservatory will be one of the features, opening from library, open fire-places; also a stable attached, of stone and frame, to have all the conveniences.” (1890) Avery was Susan B. Anthony's mentee. She commissioned Minerva to design a house in a rural area of Northeast Philadelphia, with the intention of both living there and hosting meetings for women's suffrage and other causes.
