Brooklyn Bureau of Charities, Northern District Building (Addition)

191 Marcy Avenue, Brooklyn, NY

1900 | Social Services Building (Addition) | Demolished before 1940

For the Brooklyn Bureau of Charities (where her husband William was general secretary at the time), Minerva designed a rooftop addition for one of its buildings on Marcy Avenue. The organization ran workrooms, laundries, and a woodyard at this address, and by 1904, a day nursery (or nursery school, in today’s terminology); Minerva’s third-story addition likely made this newest social program possible.
